Music

Continuing with the intimate feel with plenty of articulation, this recording uses two large diaphragm condenser mics in an ORTF placement, which gives a very natural space to the guitar.

The piece is the sweet instrumental composed by the late great Randy Rhoads.

After dusting off some recording equipment and experimenting a bit. I was going for an intimate, up-close and personal feel on this sample, with plenty of articulation and dynamics.

I used only one large condenser mic and the next step will be to setup a second one to capture true stereo. I also used a hardware compressor patched on the input and added a touch of plate reverb after the fact on the computer (but no EQ and no other processing). The gain staging was a bit too hot and the bass notes distort but otherwise I am pleased with the recorded tone.

How about a dual pass of guitar improvisation over a moody chord progression bed just for the fun of it?

Here's a little "pot-pourri" of miscellaneous musical demo projects recorded over the years. You'll find excerpts from both acoustic and electric guitar pieces.
